Do we spilt this one in PI Q2 with Lorenzo and Bautista...

 

I think that is a big part of why he is always so damned fast in the race. He tends to push past the limits in practice to make sure he knows how hard he can push in the race. I think Bautista just throws shit thru the gravel for giggles.

 

I agree, push past in FP and you know the limits in the race.....unless of course the track conditions change dramatically between FP and Race day.

Many years ago a young Dane Wesby came to the Gratten National. In practice at the "jump" he would send it and run way off the track. Subsequent laps he ran less and less off the track until he made it stick. I talked to Tig and he just smiled and said something to the likes of "he goes as hard as he can and just keeps backing off till it works". 99.9% of people go the other way and push till it costs them. I'll never forget that

that's one of my favorite stories. it was a huge eye opener for me, too.

 

Despite the crashes he did a hell of a job showing how fast he is on a good bike. Looking forward to wsbk next year. Was really pulling for him to put it on the box
