But that roughing the passer penalty was BS.

 

I want to know how mahomes can lower his helmet to deliver a helmet on helmet hit to a defender, shatter his helmet in doing so, not get a penalty for it, and then not be forced to be evaluated for a concussion.

 

Yeah if anything he should've had to come out for a play

 

Devil's Advocate perspective here...but the spirit of the rule is to protect the offensive player with the ball. Same thing with a stiff arm....most times that could be easily penalized as a face mask penalty, but because it's the runner/offensive player avoiding a tackler/defender, it's allowed.

The rules favor the offense because scores cause cheers and excitement. Most of the rules, especially in the last 2 decades with "Player Safety" in mind restrain the Defense much more severely.

 

I don’t think he should’ve gotten a penalty but I was very surprised they didn’t evaluate him. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a helmet break apart like that. I think all the green dots have back-ups but what if it were a regular player, would they let them play or they’d have to take a bench players helmet or something?

 

Could the extreme cold be a cause of that helmet crack?
