Bultaco Sherpa T. Wished for it, found this one, bought it, turned out to be too nice to ride, sold it. Bought something that I would feel less guilty about thrashing.Papa is still brow beating me.....
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. The decision to sell it came before the unfortunate discovery that the crank seal leaked. OK....I'm out of the closet. Satisfied?
The truth will set you free. But I have to say, I'm now curious what the official reason was for selling the 962...
Though in the spirit of this thread, I wish I had my V7 Sport back. This replica from a 850T is a very nice copy.
Officially? It was beyond my financial resources and engineering ability to keep it running. Unofficially I guess I wanted to get back on a bike. And since somebody will ask "What the hell is a 962?" it is a car. Mine had a Busa motor that was shoehorned in to the space previously occupied by a Yamaha FZ1000 motor.
Out with the old and in with the new. One thing to keep in mind when considering classics. If it was POS when it was new it is not better because it is old. That may be the truth that set me free and I am now riding a cool "not yet a classic" 2007 Triumph.
No accounting for taste is there? I have had both 750 and 850 Commandos, and I think there is no comparison, I think the MK IIA 850 I have now is the best Commando by a significant margin. I admit the 750 handled better, but I think the 850 is a better every day rider, torquier, more useable in traffic. I agree if it was junk to start with, it's junk now. I have one of each of the above, because I think each was a great motorcycle in its day, and each one is still very very nice.
