So you would suggest that we stop a flow of immigrants and create security on our southern border by helping their economy collapse without removing the cartels power/territory first?

Edit: Also, I get that it is technically an invasion, but we have had boots on the ground for humanitarian crisis around the world that had much less to do with our direct security. If the Mexican gov't doesn't want this help in any way, what is the nature of our friendship other than proximity and cheap goods/labor?

Democrats/Liberals are just mental. Several weeks back, they loved a porn star. This week, they love family values.

I was being partially sarcastic but....
If we secure our border it would be less of an issue, this should be done regardless.
I want Mexico to be prosperous however at this time I do not see progress toward that. Further the cartels have infiltrated the government in many regions.
So yes I kind of am advocating it as an extreme solution that is better than sending troops. Reality is that we would be better off doing things less suddenly. One thing would be to start using remittances as a way to track illegal aliens who are working here (either as cash or identity thieves) then deport them. A lot of other things could be done but in the end we need to take the profit out of crime when possible.

How's that different from going to Iraq or Afghanistan, weren't those invasions?

    Good point:
In the case of Afgan we were attacked.
In the case of Iraq we were initially defending an allie (Kuwait) and the second was in theory him breaking the agreement.

Certainly you can argue both of those. I do not see ANY justification for randomly going into Mexico. If their troops cross again and we went after them it could escalate but even then it would be likely things would settle fast. Mexico has its flaws but it knows we could be in Mexico City pretty much at will militarily, so they would be careful to not give us reason.

Them improving and becoming stable and productive like Canada would be awesome though. Both for us and their own citizens. I thought Fox might have started them down that path but not anymore.

    We can't fix Mexico.
Like many other countries, it's society is corruption-based and incompatible with our society where the common expected social interaction is one of goodwill and cooperation and honesty. Citizens in corrupt countries expect that, in situations where they are powerless, they will be shaken down and in situations where they have power, they will shake down others.

There’s more money in illegal immigration than there is resolving the issue. It’s like cancer, it’s more profitibale to treat it than cure it.

Much like the wars on drugs, poverty and racism, an industry unto itself and there are a lot of people that don't want to give up the money and influence associated with the issue.

I was just perusing the headlines on the various news sites a moment ago. I want to take the time and express my gratitude for being so insignificant and not social media connected, that my f#ck-ups, past and present, will never end up on national news.

I thought their headline was a riot too....."Trump signs exec order stopping HIS family separation practice" right there in bold print as the reporter is asking did you speak up in 2014.....SMDH. The stupid they push daily is beyond mind-numbing.
