I started with 1 EU2 ... then bought another not to long after. The extended run and power box made things easy to setup get power to the pit area. My needs were met by 30amp so its a good scalable setup. If a trailer were my base of operations... the predator would make sense especially if you have a slideout tray so you didnt have to tote it.
Sorry, I can't post a review. Hopefully HF will ship it before the 1st hurricane hits us. Looks like it's going to be a while before I get it. Should have bitten the bullet and drove 60 miles to the store
Well shit ! Fuckers accept my order. Site shows up to 2 week delay . Finally able to talk to someone who informed me that they were on b/o before I placed my order. And have no idea when they will be back in stock. So I need suggestions on a replacement. don't want to spend more than $1k
How much power do you need? If 3,000 watts (assuming Inverter only?) is enough there's some options. 3,500 or more is probably going to be other made in China ones similar to the Predator. Generac, westinghouse, Briggs, Firman, Powerhorse, etc. all make ones for around $1000. I had good service previously from my Briggs & Stratton.
I ended up ordering the Briggs. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N9FAFIE/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Only 2 in stock and I don't want to be caught without power. Now I'm trying to figure out what transfer switch to get. I could have sworn there were ones that I wire into my main box, and just turn the main breaker off to prevent back feed. For sure need help with that.
I got to spend a weekend with one recently. Under a 30amp load there is a noticeable hum inside the trailer even with the generator ~15' away when the rooftop air would kick on. That was with eco mode turned on. If I owned one the first mod Id do would be an extended run modification. Ran out of fuel twice... once at 4am. Refueling sucks w/o a funnel. But for the $$$ and the cost/convenience of the extended run kit... much cheaper than the big Red gorillas offering.
5-7hrs on a tank at full load. Arrived on Thurs afternoon ~3pm... loaded up Sunday morn at 10am. Used ~17 gallons
right after having to fuel up at the most inconvenient time... I found this fella. https://www.pinellaspowerproducts.com/product/predator-3500-extended-run-time-fuel-kit/ The owner/founder does a pretty good job of demonstrating and packaging a good product. Is the price expensive at $260?? I guess that depends on what your time is worth. Seems like a hassle free way to keep from having to refuel constantly. Install seems clean & secure. And I realized one of those 15 gallon VP cans would be perfect for long weekends.
Thanks. It a home back up, so refueling is not a problem. Have to say thanks to the Sarah dust for keeping the tropics quite so far.
