… which reminds me. Coming back to the USA flying KLM - on pushback from AMS Schiphol, our jet broke. Some sort of engine problem, we were told. The jet was towed to a repair area with all passengers on board while a fix it crew came out, opened up the engine nacelle and went to work. That entire crew had either just received service in the famous red light district, or were just a jovial bunch of goons what with the availability and legality of drugs nearby. Some big machined parts and metallic tubing came off that engine while those guys were laughing, playing telephone with said tubes and acting like everything was way heavier than it actually was. Parts were heaved down with great aplomb (the new stuff was handled carefully) and they all acted like it was a big Dutch oven type Chinese fire drill. Start to finish, maybe twenty minutes while we watched from inside the jet. And nothing else broke.
