That you've seen recently.... a lot of shitty sy fi movies exist and I love the generic shityness of most(cheesy this, general cheese) science fiction but what has been too far? "The hunt" was close but I enjoyed the cheese. The gifted or any other mutant movie is a soft spot.
Not recently, and I really don't watch Sci-Fi stuff, but when I think shitty Sci-Fi Sharknado is first to mind.
Sharknado isn’t even in the running in a world where Santa Clause Conquers the Martians and Hercules Against the Moon Men exists.
From 2019 to 2023 there were over 20 direct to video movies that Bruce Willis made (a couple were sci-fi, I think). It's like he knew what was coming for him and needed those last paydays. They were real low budget crapfests. I tried to watch one that was on Amazon - I made it 15 minutes and decided You-Tube would be the way to go that night.
Here's a surprisingly good movie I watched last week, Marooned, made in 1969. It was on TCM, and an astronaut from that era said it was remarkable how much of that movie was factual. It had an impressive cast, Greggory Peck, Richard Crenna, Gene Hackman, David Janssen. Sorry for the thread drift!
I saw that in the threatre with my family at the request of my brother. We still give him crap for it.
Maybe not recent, but the Eragon movie was a total disappointment. I love that book series (The Inheritance Series) and think with the right production it could be on the level of Lord of the Rings epic!
Oh please tell me Michael Caine was also in that movie. Not SiFi but bonus points for anyone that can name the masterpiece for this reference
Prometheus. I'm sure I missed some deeper meaning and avant-garde artistic expression, but I would rather be suffocated by sweaty rhinoceros balls than sit through that movie again.
