House shopping now. GF is from Arizona and is adamant that she doesn't want to deal with one. I don't care one way or the other at the moment. We spend a lot of time there visiting her family already, who have a pool. I think in the couple dozen trips we have made, we have used it once. That being said, tons of houses already have them, doesn't seem to be much of a price difference either.

    What say the Beeb?

Of course you need a pool.

    It's fucking Arizona.

Once you get your chemicals dialed, it really only takes a gallon of bleach every other day and you're golden. TroubleFreePool will be your friend.

A pool is just a hole in the ground that you pour money into.

Boat is a hole in the water that you pour money into.

    Nope on both.

    Herein lies the answer...

Only possible reason to have one is to add resale value if you plan on selling at some point.

Just moved away from Phoenix and had a pool.

I'd say unless you really want to spend 15 hours a week to maintain it, don't go down the rabbit hole.

    1. It get's so ballz hot that your chemicals will evaporate constantly and you will pull your hair out keeping the pool balanced.
2, Pigeons, if you don't know how dirty those slimly birds are and how they funk up your pool then don't do it. (Especially if the neighbors have solar panels. Those things are like crack to pigeons.)
    3. The real hidden cost especially if you have kids / company are the opening and closing of the sliding door a bazillion times in 115 degree.
    4. The pool will get hotter than bathwater and getting in will have you sweating in no time.

The only plus is when we sold. Those Cali weenies are so desperate to leave their state they pounce on everything especially if it has a pool.

Pool, no need. But, if I was a younger man and lived in Arizona. I’d have a pro charged LS jet boat and be on Lake Havasu every chance I got. That cash won’t be in your casket.

No to the pool. They are a pain, and everyone else has one if you really want to use one at some point.
We have 4 lakes within a hour's drive from the valley. Get a boat.

    OPP is the best.

Pool. The best Pool. As in Other Peoples Pool

Dont go original OPP cause that can get real expensive. Like Half expensive.

Okay, that settles it. More lawn space for the dog is a bonus, and I was thinking we would use an outdoor living space/kitchen with misters more than a pool. The search continues.

Misting system. Good one with a high pressure pump. Don’t cheap out.

We spent Christmas there and I was entirely too amused at everyone doing that.

Our dogs were in shock learning how to do their business on gravel. (We had lived in Houston before the relo) And plastic grass is not the way to go. Don't ask how we know. Be prepared for some training and don't get caught off guard.
