Only saw the replay once , but it seemed there was a loud crack noise before any real bike movements from the onboard camera . Did the carbon swingarm fail ?
It actually sounded like a false neutral and then the clunk sounded like it caught a gear. Of course, I'm not sure any of that is possible with the seamless shift transmissions.
I'm sure we'll know more soon, but something was definitely up with that wreck. Extremely odd place to have a highside out of nowhere..... You can see the carbon swingarm fully broken in this pic, so not sure if this caused the wreck or was a consequence of the bike tumbling. Either way I'd think it very difficult to break like that unless the was an underlying issue. You can be damn sure HRC won't say a damn thing until they are sure what happened.....
That was Marc's explanation- he was going a little slower and closed off the throttle completely causing the rear to lose traction under engine braking. He's fine and will continue the weekend.
Even if MM93 was to enjoy some hook ers and blow at the hotel, watching the races on DVR, he would still probably win the championship from the couch. I'm wondering how they celebrate his what, 7th championship. Oh yeah, with even more Hook ers and blow
I'm sure they can build at least a couple bikes from spares they carry with them, but a rider can only have a maximum of 2 bikes available at any time, so you either repair the bike that is wrecked or you build one from scratch. The only limiting factor is the engine, so I'm sure they try their hardest to make sure they don't have to scrap it, as they only get 7 for the season. At this point I wouldn't think them too concerned, however.......
