I wanna build or buy a supermoto type bike to go slide around the parking lots when its not a track day or race weekend. I have zero intention of racing it as it is not popular here in my neck of the woods. I just wanna have a cheap way to ride on asphalt to help me get my skills back up since I do not street ride anymore. We don't have a large mini racing scene here either so I will be learning to deal with sliding in an empty lot. Any suggestion on what years and makes would do this without popping engines right away? I really have no preference to brand. Just wanna cheap way to go play in an empty lot or something. 250/450 doesn't matter if it works it works.
speaking of non cheap builds(excluding skilled welders/ machinist/part buyers)... always wanted to do this http://www.450gp.com/EN/vehicles.html
Short of chopping up 250gp bodywork and making it fit, that doesn't look that hard to fab. Looks like standard inverted forks, some 300 wheels and a rotor with caliper. But I always tend to make something simple like buying someone else's set up much harder by doing it myself.
Have one... at a mile high they kinda suck for trying to slide around asphalt. I was hoping for something bigger that I could power around a short circuit made in an empty parking lot.
Find a 250f jap or Ktm 2008 or newer and get a set of warp9 wheels (budget brand) and get an oversized rotor. Then you can swap wheels and train in both off and on road. Prob set you back $3500 ish
Any particular model to avoid? I'm able to find 250/450 jap stuff easily, just not sure which ones are time bombs. I'll look into the wheel kits. Thank you
I’ve got the wr250f and can’t find any used wheels for it - where’s the best place to look? http://forums.13x.com/index.php?threads/wtb-supermoto-wheels-for-2004-wr250f.352452/#post-5339056
I'm not too far off. I have a KTM 450 SMR for sale here in San Diego. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
