yamaha, is the cheapest and most reliable. 06+ yz250f/450f.
lots and lots of used supermoto parts also, the engine is dead reliable.

Shame they're so hard to come across. I'd prefer something like that over a Grom any day......

The KTM's are awesome, so easy to work on. tons of parts that are actually made for them instead of trying to rig up something that doesn't work too well. Tons of info and knowledge on them readily available.

I might be willing to let mine go for the right price. PM if needed

    Please stop referring to wr’s.

He asked for a supermoto build. Not a trailbike that also need $1000 in suspension.

At least with an mx bike he can get in the ballpark suspension wise and some wheels.

actually for the intended purpose (training), he would be better off with the stock suspension IMO

a completely sacked original suspension and the worst tires you can get can teach you alot.

Couldn’t disagree more. But at any rate, anything is better than nothing.

Handy thing with Yamahas is lots and lots and lots of parts swap between them over decades. My 1992 WR250ZD has lots of 2010 parts on it for example. Wheels in particular are pretty much straight swaps across the years as long as you pay attention to spacers.

from a business perspective or a riding one? because if its a riding one, maybe you know something I dont? you think it would teach bad habits or something?

the way I see it (and experienced it) its like learning to ride and then ride well, in the dirt/mud before supermoto and once you put those slicks on and hit the pavement its like the most perfect conditions ever. smooth as glass and stuck like glue.

for dirt training, I say the opposite. get a full on supermoto for training in the dirt, for physical reasons as well but mostly for learning to tame the beast.

"Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon "

They have some interesting looking GP bikes. But on that site news posts are last dated 2012 . Are they still in business?
