That's a good point. The base Impreza isn't terrible, and come as a 5 door. The ones I've driven haven't been hugely powerful, but they are awd and get the job done. I haven't owned one so I don't know about reliability.
Me and the wife use Uber a lot around the city, I've ridden in all the newer and current Civic/ Corolla/ Juke/ Sentra/ Mazda 3/ Prius/ Rav 4/ Altima/ CRV etc. You will have a hard time going from a Q5 to any sub $20k brand new vehicle and be happy with it on daily basis, just my $0.02. Most people who claim to have spent a lifetime of Honda happiness and are on their 7th Civic have most likely never driven something nice.
I rent a few times a month. If I was looking for a car like that I would look hard at kia. Great value. Do you guys have Cistco? Check with them for pricing as well on new cars
7500 mi a year?? Hell, buy a $3500 03-05 Camry and keep it forever. No payments, cheap insurance. Decent package options and it'll never die.
Honestly nope, I would buy one again just to keep you going for another decade or two It had some cool things like the heads up display and the cargo setup but overall was just not that good a vehicle. Add in the extreme ugly and no way on getting another or another version of it. I'd rather she got a minivan (which I have lobbied for).
Tried that logic too, not happening. One thing she didn't mention is she loves cars and loves driving. She also doesn't do well in underpowered cars (the last time I let her drive a rental on the road was my first ever time flying out west with her - she nailed the throttle in an Escort and jumped into LA traffic as if it accelerated like her 5.0 Mustang....) so while she thinks a lot of these are viable for her, once the test drives start the list will shrink quickly.
Don't know for how many months but Mazda is doing the 0% on 3s and CX9s. They sent me an email promoting it but I only read the highlights.
Part of that is due to the stop sale on the CX-5s, so they need to get something out there. It would be a great time to deal on a Mazda3.... just wish the MazdaSpeed3 would come out soon
Hi Evelyne. Since you plan on keeping long term, I would recommend Honda or Toyota. Hands down most reliable and best value.
So I was thinking about this last night and how I know Ev and her love of driving. She will not be happy in a civic or corolla. I love my civic because it is reliable, cheap, and I only drive to and from work. The power on the new ones is probably better, but I do wish I had more pedal. I think of the list that Ev originally posted, the Optima or Sonata may be her best bet. However, coming from an Audi anything will still be an adjustment.
That is so true it's not funny. But she has made small/medium adjustments before with no issues if the vehicle has something cool about it. Like the CTSV to the A4, trade of raw power and good handling to decent get up and go and go kart handling.
I think her Audi is the 3.2 gasser. Nice engine with a lot of guts. I drove some Hyundai SUV around florida (Sante cruz, sante fe, sante claus?) with a 4 (I think) and it had some guts to it. Would I buy one of those? nope, seats sucked and it pogo sticked when you went over train tracks and rough road but the engine was good. The VW 2.0t gasser is a great engine and MIGHT give Ev her rush.
I think she'd like the V Dub too. The 2.0t is what the A4 had and it was the cabrio so it was heavier already. I also think she'd get a good trade for the Q5 from them even off lease.
Yeah but you're a big dumb mongo, she's not. What about a 5 door gti with just the DSG and the sport package as options? Yeah, premium gas but they are stupid fun.
