True, but every so often I find the Crosse & Blackwells at Publix. Good stuff, but not as good as Grans'

There is a place in Vienna, VA called the Pie Gourmet. They make authentic mincemeat pie. It is to die for.

Just different spices. Grandmas always have their secret recipies. The C&B is damn good, though!

 

Our boys that would come and go from across the pond always raved about Grans. Never had one..

 

+++ for mm pie. Wife puts extra stuff in it and makes a deep dish. Warm with vanilla ice cream is good for an extra 2 pounds on the bathroom scale.

 

Crosse & Blackwells isn't bad but it still isn't the real deal, has to have beef suet in it to be proper mincemeat.

I have never had a mincemeat pie I enjoyed. I think it is a texture and psychological thing. Beef Suet???
