Lots of good stuff listed here. Didn't see West's "Theme From An Imaginary Western" though. Definately belongs here IMO.
I know I've said his name already, but Warren Haynes playing Cortez, The Killer with Dave Matthews on Live in Central Park is one I can just listen to on repeat for hours and I never get tired of it. He just owns it.
Completely agree. Great solo. I love his solo on Turn the Page (live version on "A Show of Hands") too. Alex is definitely the most underrated musician in Rush. Check out Pat Metheny's solo on "To the End of the World". Brilliant, eventhough the m.i.d.i. part sounds a little cheesy.
Oh great, the conversation has turned to Rush. "listen to them man, note perfection wrapped in awesome." I'd rather have a twinkee wrapped in a ho ho dipped in batter and deep fried.
BFG's work on Just got from Baby's is talking to me right now. (makes me want to be in a dirty strip club) Hendrix, Clapton, SRV have too many to list. Frusciante is very underrated. Plays with Hendrix/SRV fluidity.
Not all solo work needs to screech. Try on: Surfin' Ernest Ranglin Round Midnight Wes Montgomery Midnight Blue Kenny Burrell All three of these guys have chops coming out of their ears.
too many to list, but a few are ... jimmy page :stairway to heaven (live version ). EVH : ice cream man Randy Rhoads : revelation(mother earth), over the mountain , mr.crowley, list goes on and on... steve vai: for the love of god david gilmour: another brick in the wall pt2
I was just listening to the Dixie Dregs live album and the guitar in "The Bash" spoke and said Steve Morse is incredible.
Jerry, totally under rated picker.... Sleepwalk, I still play that song to this day...very easy to play, still a great classic.
