You ever heard a song that has a guitar solo in it that says something to you? You know, where the solo fits the song perfectly, and it keeps you hooked, whether or not you even like the song? I'm a chump for a good guitar solo. It really doesn't even matter the genre of the music. Here's some that I think fit their songs well: My favorite: "Practice what you preach" by Testament The dual guitar solo if "Freebird" The solo in "One" by Metallica Dire Straights "Sultan of swing" "Flirtin with disaster" by Molly Hatchett Y'all?
The portion about in the midddle of La Villa Strangiato when it gets quiet and Lifeson plays. Puts the hair up on my neck everytime. Like you said, it speaks to me.
Since "Back in Black" is the greatest rock song of all time then Angus Young's solo must the be greatest also.
Guitar solo by Poisons' CC Deville on the Swallow This Live Album. He also plays some variation of it at thier concerts.
I don't like long, drawn out solos. It's some clod masturbating via his electric twanger 99% of the time.
Awesome stuff y'all. Looks like I'm gonna have to do some listening. How about the dual solo in "Hotel California".
Metal, you need to expand your horizons there a bit....you are way too mainstream. Along with some old Zappa (who I used to hate) try: East/West by the Paul Butterfield Blues Band or Little Johnny Jewel by Television Sign up for Spotify...it's free and you can plug most any group and listen to most of their library. Speaking of that, old Pink Floyd will blow your mind (the Syd years): The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
