.29 when I started driving. Yes I'm old tho. Spree candy packs for .05. Cokes were .12 including the deposit. Alas..
Gas...18 cents Smokes...25 cents 16oz soda...13 cents Most candy bars....5 cents Ahhh, the good ol dayz...
.88 for gas Pack of Marlboro reds was 1.30 16 oz Mt, Dew, pack of smokes, rolling papers and a bag of hostess mini brownies for less than 3 bucks...
Gas was $0.30, don't know about smokes A nickel bag was still $5 Didn't need papers as long as someone had an empty beer can, a piece of tinfoil and a straight pin Double album covers were the best for sorting Oh, and minimum wage was aboutr $1.65
Gas was 0.94. Camel just launched their "Wides" I drove my friends around in my 72 VW. Papers were the front pages out of a dictionary or a bible when times were tough. I never touched booze or drugs, but I was a hella good sober driver. Way too many midnight pick-me-ups, chicks having bad trips, and alcohol poisoning. It was almost as fun as oin to Wal Mart on the first of the month. Almost.
When I was old enough to ride motorized bikes... gas was under a buck and the cheap auto parts store oil was $.80/quart. I remember driving on the Garden State Parkway and sweeping up the toll quarters that missed the basket giving me enough cash for gas/tolls to get home from the shore on my motorcycle.
