Be prepared to get the talk about " We don't go by KBB , we go off of Dealer Black Book / whatever your vehicle will bring at auction." I was ready to seal the deal , but when they offered me $5000 less than KBB's Good condition value , I walked. My offer was Edmunds TMV , and KBB Good condition trade in for my vehicle. They agreed to the TMV price , but juiced me on my trade so just don't let them do it to you.
If you want to play a good game and save yourself some time, you can get dealerships fighting with each other pricing by phone. I had three dealerships going back and forth and ended up saving A LOT of money when I bought my last Grand Prix. Only visited one of the dealerships in person then started making them fight each others prices. Worked out great. When I decided, all I had to do was go in and sign the papers, car was ready to go.
The best trade value I've ever found was Carmax and most dealers who just ship out to an auction won't/can't match that. KBB is cool for buying but not selling - you need to look at trade value in poor condition to get an idea of what it's worth to a dealer.
I heard Ford delayed the release till January , but now they are calling that an 08? The way I understand it , it will be an 07 on delayed release ........ Either way , the next 250 released will be revamped , no? And what about the new 6.4L twin turbo diesel?
just got back. they were 1500 below what I wanted on trade-in. and I all I wanted was KBB or edmund's trade-in. They actually told me that they use the same thing for the prices. I told them you give me the 1500 more for my trade where I want it and I willl buy the truck. He did mention before I left that the trade price they gave me is something they can work with. So, I am assuming by that that they went in low with rooom to work. I told them if they get it up to the "true" KBB trade-in then I will buy the new truck. I think that is completely fair. stay tuned, I will let you know what happens.
Thats pretty good that they said they use KBB for trade values ...... Sounds to me like you will have a new truck very shortly.
If they don't cough up the other $500 by tonight, they will by tomorrow morning. Funny little thing, it really is better to buy the end of the month. Helps the inventory numbers. They usually want to move more.
I completely agree with that AND the salesman usually wants to sell another unit to increase his commision tier. I tried that last time and I still got shot down on the 31st
Were you trying to buy down by where you live? If there aren't many dealerships in the area for them to compete with, its a little harder to get them down. Could have been another problem.
Yep , thats true too. I guess I just live in a crap area for buying a new truck. Since I have a trade in , I don't want to drive hours away only to be low balled on my trade so I am pretty much screwed.
Might be worth a weekend trip to try a deal. Could probably go as close as Charleston or Savannah and get a better chance. Palmetto Ford in Charleston used to be pretty good to deal with.

I just want 6000 on my trade for my dodge. The guy all but told me they would do it saturday. Said they have a big sale going on and just want to move vehicles. He said that he is pretty sure they will not let a sale go thru over 500 bucks
only thing I may change is the camper mirrors and get On star, XM radio, and steering wheel controls. There is another one that is red that is set up that way and only 400 more.
