I figure it's like most things: really good, stand up guys on the front line getting shit done, really big assholes in the headquarters/boardroom/DC playing games and making money off the blood of the rest.

I am currently a direct report to the former CEO of Xe. He is the most honest, most fair, and hardest driving person I have ever met. He treats me like a professional and trusts me to get things done. He expects execution. He commands respect. He gets both.

The most interesting thing he has said to me that I will share is that Blackwater/Xe was not just hired to do the work in country. They were also paid handsomely to face the criticism back home. In other words, only about half of what you hear is true.

I hope I get to work with this guy for a long time.

So, basically, because NYT claims it, they're guilty as charged?

It's some trend we're following these days, to hell with getting your day in Court, someone makes an accusation be it in the media, social media or TMZ and you're guilty as charged, case over.....next?!?!?

I have no respect for the NYT anymore.
Not that they deserved much anyway.

Blackwater's existence is to make sure other countries use the US dollar whether they want to or not. Not being a gov't entity gives them the latitude to do that and a scapegoat if things go south. If that's not correct then why is the US starting shit in the ME? 911, please, What's the reason to provoke action in Syria and the Ukraine? Gas pipelines, look up the places on a map, where's Afghanistan located? Right between Iran and China, again gas pipeline, in this case making sure one doesn't get put in. Iran wants gold for oil, no interest in the US dollar. The US can't export it's debt if there's no need to use it when trading oil. No reason to buy treasuries then. It's stupid to send young men to war to perpetuate this mess.

War has always been about money. The only reason we went to WWI was because we'd already loaned millions to the Euro Allies and they flat out told us that if they lost the war, we'd never see a dime of it back.

I read Princes book about Blackwater. Basically, they were given a SOP, when that SOP backfired and created a shit storm, Prince requested CIA to give him the go ahead to use records to exonerate and show that all his actions were legit. He was denied and pointed towards the contracts stating to the effect of "Thou shalt not divulge CIA info under any circumstances"

Blackwater was basically thrown under the bus, vilified and used as flare to draw attention away from other contractors.

I think the issue also arose from the fact that Blackwater grew exponentially very quickly. Hard to expand so fast and not hire a few dirt bags.

Their primary mission was VIP escorts and from what i know they did a bang up job.

I'd love to hear how you came up with that little nugget of crazy.

How exactly are we provoking action in Syria and Ukraine? We're using diplomatic and economic instruments of power to try and avoid military intervention.

This is less about Iran and China, and more about the former Soviet states with access to Caspian petroleum reserves getting oil out through Pakistan and India. Having the TAPS pipeline would actually be good for the US economically. Why would we want to prevent it?

Iran wants gold because they have a boatload of economic/trade sanctions on them. In that case, benchmarking your currency to a physical commodity is a good idea. Good info on Iran's petroleum/natural gas industry and reserves.

And the average person doesn't buy T-bills because there are other vehicles with similar stability that offer a better return. Other countries will continue to because the US doesn't typically default on bonds, and because it provides a little more leverage in relations with the US.

You choose to ignore the current multiple murder charges as well as the drug and weapons convictions. NYT made all that up too?

I don't choose to ignore anything, I don't really have any skin in this game, BW/XE/Academi don't pay my bills nor am I seeking future employment with them.

I just despise this whole notion that we can condemn people so easily on here (BBS/Interwebs) with out knowing all the facts. If you haven't noticed yet that tends to be 'my theme' no matter who's getting wronged online.....people just tend to take notice more often when it happens in LE related rants. :D

I just wanted to add that a few bad apples, shouldn't spoil an entire company.

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A 35-year-old former Blackwater security guard was found guilty of first-degree murder on Wednesday for shooting a civilian at a crowded traffic circle in the Iraqi capital Baghdad in 2007, an incident that drew worldwide condemnation.

Nicholas Slatten was convicted of killing Ahmed Haithem Ahmed Al Rubia’y, one of 14 civilians slain when Blackwater guards opened fire in Nisur Square on Sept. 16, 2007, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia said in a statement."
