Critics said the same thing about The Crying Game and then "she" took her clothes off. I think that movie was what broke Forest Whitaker's eye.
Same here, except I never tried. I havent seen anything. It seems like I get the "OH MY GOD. You've NEVER seen [cult movie]? What is wrong with you??" shit about a different movie every week. So fill me in. What's this flick about, besides robot sex? I saw Ex Machina, and they covered that pretty well... Edit: just watched the trailer. They missed the mark on LA 2019 by a bit. Clearly they didn't see the smoking ban coming...
I'll probably go see it. I haven't watched the original Blade Runner in forever though so I'm gonna need to go dig it up and rewatch so its fresh in my head.
Ex Machina was very good, but Blade Runner is on another level of cinematography altogether. Definitely Ridley Scott's best work, an awesome soundtrack by Vangelis, the mashup of sci-fi with film noir was perfect.
Amazing how good the original looks when you consider how old it is and how the tech has advanced. FWIW, Adam Savage is a big fan of the original and he loved the sequel. Also, there's a handful of shorts that you can watch that are in the same universe that precede the sequel all directed by up & comers at Villenueve's request, check them out.
He's the one that supposedly owns the original Deckard's gun movie prop. I like the Director's Cut, but the Final Cut is prety similar.
I'm watching the original (I'm not sure which version I have)... I don't remember it being this slow. I feel like I've been watching it for hours. I'll see the new one, but don't know how excited I am. I forgot Larry of Larry, Darryl and Darryl fame was in it.
Thing is we've been burnt out by todays movies that are written with non stop action for the short attention span of the new generation of viewers.
She was incredible in that role. Her and Rutger Hauer (whatever happened to him ?) formed the most freaky couple in sci-fi history.
As long as someone takes the pleasure from the serpent that once corrupted man, I'm in. Sean or no Sean.
