That is insane for a four cylinder...
How big are they and what do they make?
Suprised for that coin clements or cornett isnt doing half a small block builds. You can buy a 900+ HP 430 for that coin.

They are around 166cid and make around 425 or slightly more at the crank. The half a V8 deal was done by Sesco back in the day. And lots of cars are running a Rodec or similar block with V8 heads. Keep in mind also, if you want the Toyota, your team AND drive have to be approved by TRD before you even get the honor of forking out $50,000+. Toyota and the big teams are ruining midget racing in my opinion. There are about 10 or 15 teams out there that have the cash to race like this, the rest just show up.

That is still stupid money for a four cylinder...
I’d bet for 25-30 you could make as much or more power using off the shelf stuff and modern Brodix or Dart 11• stuff.
Its a real shame the samctipning bodies are allowing that.

Yeah. The real shame is that they are holding to majorly outdated traditions too. A good modern dual overhead cam engine with even a mild EFI system would easily make the same kinda power as the Toyota for well under half the cost. But the major sanctioning bodies don’t allow them.

And you really can’t make the same power in a 4 using off the shelf parts. If you could that is what everyone would be running. You can get close, but it still wouldn’t be at the pointy end. That Toyota is something special. You can damn near stop the car in a turn and it will still power away. I don’t know what they have done, but whatever it is it works.
