My cousin who didn't even know if her Camry had a V6 or 4 cylinder for 10 years, was talking to me about F1 last weekend. She tries to watch the races now since watching the series I was like I only watch Netflix F1 because the actual racing is pretty boring, so you may know more than me right now. Also, who has friends that are not into motorsports...those would be acquaintances at best...
The response to the Netflix series is exactly the reason NASCAR was highly popular at one point. The racing is mostly boring in both series. It’s the reality TV drama that sparks interest. Since NASCAR put on the tie to gain corporate sponsors it’s dropped in popularity. Drivers have at it is what brings in the masses. F1 via Netflix has good boardroom drama between teams and drive seat shuffling I wouldn’t mind some behind the scenes technical insight but that won’t bring in the 14 year old girls
I've literally had to ask other people to tell my son what I want him told on how to ride a fucking dirt bike, because that little shit will go out and do exactly the opposite of what I suggest. The. Exact. Opposite. It's baffling to say the least. But on one hand I admire it. I walk away frequently.
Coming up ... on the next episode of "The Real Drivers Of The FIA " ... What a way to increase popularity. Sigh.
I guess those obnoxious Olympic TV segments about some life drama of the American athlete (they find something for everyone, dead dog, lost aunt, crazy little brother, ...something) Well, I guess they knew what they were doing.... <Augh!!!>
"The race was broadcast on ABC and the full telecast averaged 1.2 million viewers, leaving it second only to the 2007 USGP at Indianapolis, which averaged 1.4m on FOX." https://racer.com/2021/10/28/austin-was-the-second-highest-usgp-tv-audience-ever/
Lol, you guys are the only people I can talk motorsports with. All my local buddies are basically team sports/hunting fishing/etc.
