I remember a novice on a CBX with 6 into 6 pipes on it at Blackhawk in the early 80s. He was a kid from Madison. Eric Bell raced the vf750 once at the first race of 82 and the Interceptor didn't come out until 83. The Sabre was a poor choice. It looked very scary coming out onto the straight. I don't recall ever seeing it on the track again.
If I remember correctly, Johnny DuPont was racing a CBX at Pocono in 1983. Not that my memory is worth trusting, though...
MA needs to make he Baggers run bars with a minimum height of 12". maybe get credit for 1 sec per lap for every 6" above that minimum. Also you get to start 1 lap ahead if you have a methed out chick on the pillion...and I mean methed out...scrawny, 8 teeth, bad tattoos....just toe' up. Also she cant wear leathers. Maybe jorts, sandals and a crop top/tube top....skull cap helmet only. Now that would be a proper representation of true "baggers" and their fan base.
He definitely liked th He definitely had some weird cool shit when I got to meet him in the early 2000s. Chris Marshall raced his old wera cb400 and probably won a race on it then put a Carillo right through the front of the case at summit. I for some reason seem to remember him crashing it in his gravel driveway test riding it when we picked it up. That bike was super fast until it wasn't. I remember him just going on about how and and all if his buddies were buying honda ascots to terrorize the back roads of pa on weekends. He had a spondon cbx at the time. One of the coolest things I've ever seen. And I remember it was the first time I saw a spoke wheel rs125 in his shop.
Was on track with one ridden by Lex van Dijk at DIS. Later saw it stripped to the cases at MMI as they had an engine issue and had to rebuild it. Went by me in practice like i was standing still
