I'd like to hang around and chat more, but I gotta go eat lunch, and do something productive- a curse of conservatives, I know.

I get the difference and I LOVE to see a massive overhaul of healthcare. It's absolutely out of control.

It's out of control due to government interference, so a massive overhaul
would consist of getting government out of healthcare.
Cut every rule and regulation that isn't absolutely necessary.
Government is a necessary evil that must be constantly pared or it
consumes all resources. Government is Kudzu.

Don't give a fk about Govt shutdowns..didn't effect me one iota.

I know quite a few people who like me, use to have insurance..who now DO NOT...so what happened is people who couldn't afford it before got it and people like me who paid for affordable insurance out of our own pockets, were driven out of the market...I could (will) not pay 1.5x my $1050 mortgage payment for insurance a month and have a $7500 per person per year deductible ...can not justify it.
No, I don't qualify for any "Subsidy".

The fact that you see The Affordable Care Act as a net positive really says alot. None of it is good though...:Poke::D

I was reminded of it this week when I went to the DMV on a "quiet" day and I still had to wait over 1 hour in line. I sat thinking that there are actually people out there that want this same government to manage their health care the same way. It boggles the mind to think that people are so stupid. I remember when I was young and my mom would take us to the Dr and just pay for it, no insurance, no waiting, no government in the way just simple and a hell of a lot cheaper.

But to your point, government regulations are why it's so messed up now and it takes a special kind of stupid to want the government involved in your health care.

We know the government broke it. We won’t get government out or take a free market approach. The health market is too big for them to not interfere and the constituency is huge. The only way we’ll end up with a free market solution is when the US Government finally runs out of money and can’t interfere for lack of resources. The system will then collapse and be rebuilt in a more reasonable way.

I use the VA for my medical needs. It's obviously Government run. I am thankful that I have it(kinda). That being said. The last time I went there I was escorted out by the VA Cops. Lost it dealing with some half wit immigrant. Completely incompetent organization. 99.9% of the employees are fresh off the boat morons. Can't spell customer service. When dealing with them it's like you're bothering them. Fucked up records, appointments, you name it. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. If you want to see your assigned doctor, who is usually foreign( I've had a Nigerian and a Pakistani), your appointment is 3 to 6 months later. Luckily I haven't had any serious ailments or issues. Anything administered or run by the Government is always shit. If the VA I go to was a private facility, it would have gone out of business a long time ago.

When the G-ment dangles money through subsidies in front of businesses what do you think happens? Of course they take it, why not? They create a lot of false rigmarole to justify it, maybe even push the g-ment to "require" it in order to justify the increased costs. I pay cash for the dentist and get 20% off as a result...hmmmmm.

^^^ THIS, in a nutshell, is what a government-run 'Healthcare for All' would look like for us and yet, soooo many fools want a single-payer system.

I'll admit, I never kept tabs on the history of this nation's HC problems/plans. However, before Obama, I NEVER remembered hearing people complain about having $5000+ annual deductibles, am I mistaken? Or did NJ employers just have/offer better plans than the rest of the country?

DJT gets a lot of bad press for the way he talks....I happen to like it when he calls bull shit what it is...BULL SHIT. He talks like what most of us talk like. Just what he thinks as he thinks it. Sure, he occasionally steps in it, but so what? It's what genuine looks like.

Agreed overall but I'll go one step further, remember when they talked shit about GWB and the GOP in general?
Rarely, if at all, would you hear back from any of them regarding any possible untruths or skewed pov's. Well, those dipshits got very used to that sorta reporting and now that we have a guy who calls them out about their livelihood, they can't handle it. GWB's pacifist character had ultimately emboldened them to become that kind of reporter. Also, I will NEVER forget all those mornings, during his Presidency, how frequently we'd get the military death toll in an effort to continue to make him unwise/unpopular and ultimately in an effort drive a nail into the GOP's coffin....in terms of having any chance in the next election. Meanwhile, during the Obama Presidency, that morning ritual of providing America with the current military death toll had seemed to become completely unimportant anymore. It was almost as if the military had suddenly stopped having casualties. For those who might actually be thinking it, IIRC, more soldiers died in the Middle East during Barry's Presidency than in #43's.

Nothing bad happened while Obama was President as
far as most of the press was concerned.

There's the rub. It's all about what's best for "me". People who now can have insurance say "I dgaf about people who don't have insurance or didn't get to keep their dr cause now I have insurance".

How to change Healthcare is the biggest question. Pops had surgery on his neck for a pinched nerve. Post op, they put him in a neck brace. Standard 2 piece job with straps. When he gets his bill..... $900 fucking dollars. This wasnt carbon fiber with titanium bolts and shit. A standard neck brace.. 900 fucking bucks.

Except now you have the EARNERS paying for someone else, a large portion that simply WON'T work harder. I documented my own struggles with this in its very own thread. I'm middle class. Not lower, not upper. I simply cannot afford to go to the doctor anymore, or should I say take my kids. My son has some kind of issue, we do not know what. He's been to the ER and seen a few other doctors now. NO ONE has been able to help him. The absolute cheapest Dr visit is $200 to the little "ReadyCare" place in the grocery store shopping center. Our visit to the ER while seeing an actual doctor for MAYBE 10-20 minutes, cost us $1400. Now we're trying to do it on our own using the vast resources of the internet. Monitoring when his "issues" occur and figuring out if it's something with food, or stress. I used to be able to easily afford health insurance for my family. Now, I'm making about 40k a year more than I was before Obamacare, and I can't even afford a simple doctor's visit. To all those that can now afford to go to the doctor ON MY DIME, you're welcome.
