I'm not sure that that link backs your position. A four-hour standoff between police and a man in a pickup truck ended peacefully Saturday in Edina. Earlier, the man had rammed a squad car, led officers on a chase, crashed in a ditch near Hwy. 100 and Vernon Avenue in Edina, then refused to get out of the truck. Police spent about four hours coaxing the man out of the pickup, and he finally emerged at about 2 p.m. Officers took him into custody without incident, and he was being evaluated by paramedics. No one was hurt, an Edina police spokeswoman said. She declined to say whether the man had a weapon. His name has not been released. It seems like those s didn't handle things the way all of you have been saying things should be handled. No gunfire, no deaths, no cowboys jumping on hoods while shooting. No expensive lawsuits and civil unrest. Those cops obviously need some retraining.
That has created problems but it hasn’t made policing worse. People have short memories community policing got popular after the 1960’s us versus them mentality so the solution was “community policing” ... You know get the cop out of the car, walking a beat, socializing with the folks they will later have to police. Led to widespread corruption, tons of issues related to it, etc. This cycle constantly repeats itself. This has been studied extensively. There is no answer. Policing isn’t an exact science because it deals with people on both sides. Ride safe, AAron
A former Texas Ranger claimed the isolation and college instead of street smarts were two significant issues with current policing. That was his opinion. I think it is far more complicated including selective enforcement of laws rather than changing bad law leading to an increasing disrespect for the law and those charged with enforcement.
Good shootin', though. One round from a moving vehicle into another moving vehicle and get a kill shot.
In the article, the police are asking the good samaritans to come in to "provide a statement". Hmmm, nothing like providing your own words to be used against you in a court of law. Silence is Golden
20 years for the gamer that called SWAT onto the guy in Kansas. https://apnews.com/9b07058db9244cfa...AP&utm_source=Twitter&utm_campaign=SocialFlow
Morons. CCW is not for stopping property crimes against others, especially well insured companies. These idiots put our rights and our lives at risk.
"thought he was reaching for a gun because he moved a hand toward his waistband." man, if I had a dollar for every time I have read that I would be taking a treasure bath.
There's a whole series of key words and phrases used in reports to cover their asses. They literally teach classes on this crap.
