    LOL.

    Quite the imagination.

My premiums are 5x what they were before the ACA. 10K deductible. ACA rates are higher. No need to shout; it`s common knowledge for a lot of people.

And there’s a thread in the dungeon that explains the effect of the ACA at length to peoples premiums and it isnt for the better.

And for most in the US, its been a universal detriment.

You'll get no argument from me on any of those things.

Trying to understand it is not the same thing as advocating for it. Personally speaking, a lot of the provisions of the law work for me and my family, though our premiums have gone way up just like everyone else's. You guys are talking like I personally dreamed up and enacted this law. Who gives a shit if my opinion is different from yours on this?

Except this part. The term "universal detriment" is subjective. You might feel that way, but many others may not. All those people count, as do I.

You do understand that things like this change by voting and not by trolling and arguing on websites, right?

Hey, I was trying to be nice. You don't want to be nice back? Fine. Your little Dungeon brain trust isn't as collectively smart and well-informed as you seem to think, and no one else in the world gives a shit about any of the conclusions made there. "Universal detriment" is false.

Back atcha. You may notice I only react when provoked. Don't call me names and I'm happy to have a conversation.

Sorry to offend so many with rough, offensive language. I guess that sort of thing only goes one way, like the other fella advising me to "fuck myself to death with a running chainsaw", right?

    Buncha goddamn snowflakes.

I guess you have trouble defining what numbers are bigger than others when it comes to health expense.

Nope. I do understand there are more numbers involved than just monthly premiums, though.

Serious question, if you get your health insurance online through your state's insurance exchange it must be an ACA-compliant plan, right? That being the case if you have a "catastrophic" plan as you've said on here, it covers at least 3 doctor visits per year outside the deductible, in addition to the 10 basic provisions of the ACA per Federal law:

    https://www.healthcare.gov/choose-a-plan/catastrophic-health-plans/

In other words, your repeated claim of not being able to afford going to the doctor until your deductible is paid bears explanation. What say you, sir?

BTW, this isn't me "making assumptions about your plan". This is right from the source, and it directly contradicts a few things you've said on here.

I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow, or my new doctor at least.
I had the same doctor for 30 years and had no trouble getting in to see him when needed at an affordable price.
He has retired and I now see a P.A. instead, even though the bill says I saw a doctor.
The only time I see actual doctors anymore is in the hospital or when I see specialists.
That's a huge change from 10 years ago.

My PA is much cuter than my doctor was though, so there's some upside.

One of my big complaints about medical care in my hometown is that Peace Health has now moved in and displaced or absorbed most of the individual family practitioners, basically turning the Bellingham medical care field into a factory chicken farm for medical professionals. When we are forced to go to Group Health we have no continuity of health care, and the PA's or doctors that end up helping us look like they're rationed to 1.45 minutes to look at a clipboard, sit down and make a diagnosis. No wonder the wrong medications get prescribed so often, it's a very poor system with few alternatives where we live.

My wife used to work there as an insurance coder, and told me behind the scenes stories every day about it. So discouraging. Luckily there are still a handful of good doctors outside the Peace Health umbrella, but getting in to see one of them can be months of delay and most simply say they aren't accepting new patients.
