COSTA MESA, CA (November 8, 2018) – MotoAmerica has announced its provisional calendar for the 2019 MotoAmerica Series with the 10-round championship set to continue its trend of building the race series through consistency of both location and dates while also tweaking a few things along the way, including the introduction of four two-day events in place of the traditional three-day events. Provisional 2019 MotoAmerica Schedule April 5-7: Road Atlanta, Braselton, Georgia April 12-14: Circuit of The Americas, Austin, Texas May 4-5: VIRginia International Raceway, Alton, Virginia (2-day) May 31 - June 2 : Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin June 15-16 : Utah Motorsports Campus - East Course, Tooele, Utah (2-day) July 12-14: Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterey, California August 10-11: Sonoma Raceway, Sonoma, California (2-day) August 23-25: Pittsburgh International Race Complex, Wampum, Pennsylvania September 7-8: New Jersey Raceway Park, Millville, New Jersey (2-day) September 20-22: Barber Motorsports Park, Birmingham, Alabama
Two day events? What's that all about? They must be cutting practice time. Also they're running UMC in a different configuration . Interesting
Cheaper, keeps the bikes in front of the fans more. Not a fan of the East Turn one but guessing they can get changes made better than we could
Good thing about that is if you decide to go back up there again, hopefully it rents for significantly less and you would still be using the MA layout?
The f@ck it is, it's Laguna Seca. Just like Sonoma is Sears Point and Pocono is giant steaming shithole off of 80.
My issue isn't really using the same layout - although that would help some I think - it's running a course different/cool enough for our riders to justify the drive. Not sure the East would have the same draw as the perimeter does. I could/would have rented the West course all along if it was just to try and do a race there. Granted the East is where the garages are and all that so it does have more of an attraction in that area. I'll have to see what MA does to make T1 viable before I can really even look into it. As things were last time I was there I didn't like the runoff and couldn't see a way to move the barrier that wouldn't affect West T10.
Looks like Twins and Stock 1000 are still one race a weekend contrary to what they previously said. Wonder when we will see rules now...
Never mind, what I was looking at is gone now. Probably just a oversight and didnt remove the link to old schedules....
