Just like racing, it doesn't HAVE to be expensive. You just have to enjoy "stock" or "spec" racing, or just playing around. I had a Tamaya "dirt thrasher" AWD buggy when I was 13 or so. Stayed up all night with my friend building it, so we could race it against his stadium truck the next day. The AWD was killer, but also sucked batteries, and the relatively low ground clearance made it slow in grass. I'd like to pick up a cheap ICE stadium truck again, just to play with around my yard. It would definitely make "supervising" my kids at the playground more fun. There's an old baseball field that is no longer used.
My plan for this winter is to build a better "trolling" boat with a better rig behind for trolling. That's by far the most fun I've had with any rc. I'll just swap out the electronics from one of the other rigs I have to keep the money pit from getting too deep. Going buy some cheap plastic boats and reshape them for the tow behind, them make a mold so I can do them from carbon.
I had a few T-maxxs and a revo back in the day. I saw the X-maxx and the 100 mph car that’s out now. Things have forsure advanced over the last ten years. Being over 18 and playing with a RC car seems childish to me and that’s from someone that’s had several growing up.
I have a total funny story about the kart place but I won’t derail this thread. Used to be all about the RC thing around 12-15, was even a member of the fracas forum at that age, then descovered this thing called a vagina and forgot all about RC cars.
I definitely don’t see Rc to be any more childish than karting. I have a sweet nitro revo 3.3 that I have had for probably 10 years. Every summer when I first got it I’d beat it all summer then redo everything during the winter. Ain’t had it out in 3 years but it’s mint and totally rebuilt never started new engine.rc airplanes are even more fun though and very challenging to master.
I plan on taking my slash with me when I am on the road for work. I figure it is better then sitting in a hotel watching porn.
Tell me more about this setup. I'm envisioning a small ice fishing rod strapped to an RC boat. When you get a fish do you drive it back you you at shore? Or is it more like a remote control planer board or dipsy that you can position wherever you want behind your main boat?
Grab a couple of RC28's and then challenge random people to race you. You could become the J7O of 28th scale RC!.
well how do you get people to race against you? you give them the slower one, and say see how great I am
