The Appalachian Trail thread got me thinking... a thru hike has been on my list since high school. But my list of stuff I want to get done before I auger in has grown a bit. I'll go first: 1. I'd like to serve at least two terms as a judge. 2. Ride a touring bike across the US. 3. Catch a grander blue marlin. 4. Catch a permit on fly. 5. Retire and sell everything and go full time in an RV (and hit every national park in the US.) 6. One at-bat at Wrigley. Whatcha got?
I'm in the RV across America boat right now. My kids are young tho, so it may have to wait a few years.
I'm 47 and my kids are in high school. Starting to think long and hard about what's next... because a life of court and sitting in the office is NOT how I'm going to go out.
You see lots of stuff. You can't stop, either due to no time or nowhere to park, or both. I've seen more football and baseball stadiums than I ever thought I would see. I've seen the signs for more road racing tracks that I had only heard of. I've seen the sign for Half Moon Bay. And I just drive on by. Now, after the kids move out, if you convince the wife to ride with her, you could see the country together. Wisconsin is the prettiest state to drive in.
I've kinda done pretty much everything there is to do in life. Been everywhere. My goal now is to see as much of the earth on 2 wheels as I possibly can. The icing on the cake!
The judge thing is my ticket out of that. A fat state pension then a leisurely life on the road. Not gonna be rich by any stretch of the imagination but sustainable for sure.
Sail a trans Atlantic crossing single handed. Key West to Prudhoe on my 675 Go to Churchill Manitoba Yellow Knife YT Resolute NWT Dodge City KS
Transatlantic crossing is a WAY cool goal! I like it. High adventure! Edit- I've read stories about people doing global rag boat crossings about everything from UFOs to Megaladons. Seriously hard core.
I want to ride US-1 from one end to the other. I want to ride US-64 from one end to the other (I've already done about half of it.) And the ultimate, I want to ride Route 66 from one end to the other.
