I think you missed the part where the R9 is:
    • Not to be compared to NGSSP bikes
    • Faster than bikes in categories where the competition have fewer cylinders and less displacement
    • Not a replacement for the R6
    • Replacing the R6 in all of the same racing classes
    • The worst performing bike in NGSSP and therefore the baseline all others that have to be neutered so the R9 can remain competitive
    • Again, do not compare the R9 to to NGSSP bikes even if it was destined to race in that class.... duh.

That honor would 100% go to the R6 actually if we are comparing all the bikes in stock form.

102hp and 42ft lbs, mediocre brakes, no blipper, yada yada yada....

Which comes first, the bike or the racing class the bike fits in? Stop thinking you are Genichi Kawakami, cuz you’re not.

The GSXR600 is homologated to 2030, the CBR600 to 2032, the ZX636 just got FIM homologation and will get throttle by wire. Which bike will be the baseline for all others to be restricted to?

I think/hope this bike will be better than the sum of all it's parts.

That looks like Fun Bike Center in Clairmont. Looks good.

I think they (FIM) have a good average performance baseline across a variety of balanced bikes so maybe there is no need to have a benchmark bike anymore. Just a target performance based on the averages they’ve driven towards.

Why not just run everything as regularity 'races'? Pretty popular with the Swiss (and Germans?). Set your fastest lap in practice and then in the 'race', whoever is closest to their practice lap without going over, wins. Sort of like 'The Price is Right', but with motorcycles.

I’ve said it before regarding horsepower. 135-150hp makes for some really good racing. Not overly hard on tires or fuel, pretty easy to achieve with bolt ons and a little headwork, and keeps things relatively inexpensive.

When superbikes used to be 750cc and 1000cc twins I thought it was great!

I hate derailing threads, but I'm ignorant to this kind of stuff.

How do you know that the ZX6R is switching to Throttle by Wire?

It's either by manufacturer or aftermarket. By the NGSS rules, all bikes have to be TBW to run the spec ECU.

OHHH. Okay. very cool. God I hope its via manufacturer. Because I believe there is already an aftermarket option, but its insanely expensive.

That is not racing, as you pointed out.
Also would take a lot of the "race craft" out of the equation.

Wait until you see the cost for the spec ecu and harness.

That's what the drag racing guys call 'bracket racing' where you just try to dial in the setup to be as repeatable as possible, not necessarily faster. No thanks, not interested in that.

There is a group pushing for local adoption of NGSS into MW with the theory that it's 'cheaper' racing...

I assume the goal is the Spec ECU and Harness is to help "level" the playing field.

But I also imagine its going to smoke privateer entries due to costs to make the bike legal for the class. Not Great.
