You stole the answer from somewhere! Seriously, though, your starting word was perfect to get this puzzle.
Yeah I’m thinking about switching the starting word to one of the other standard set, as I’ve already gotten it in one with that one…
4 for me, tried thumb first, dummy. There was a word the other day that I got a little panicky was going to break my streak, dwelt.
I got today's in 3. I couldn't sniff out yesterday's blahg blund bound pound sound found fsck - Hound.
I always start with the first three words above unless I figure it out along the way. The most commonly used letters in the English language are E-T-A-I-O-N-S-H-R-D-L-U in that order. Perhaps some adjustments would need to be made for only the subset of 5 letter words, but those are close enough for me. All 12 are used in my first three words along with the fairly common M-P-Y. My 4th word go-to is FL*CK, re-using the L, and putting whatever vowel makes the most sense in the third tile, while adding F-C-K to the letter pile. At that point there are only 8 letters unused: B-G-J-Q-V-W-X-Z. Having the U in the second tile of HUMPY lets me know if it is possibly a word that starts with Q. If I still don't have a good guess, or, worse, as you had a lot of different words that could possibly fit, I would try to figure out a 5th word that uses as many of the possible letters as I can, rather than guessing BOUND FOUND MOUND POUND ROUND SOUND WOUND... HOUND That is my strategery in a nutshell.
I always do these 3 in order: CLEAR SIGHT POUND I won't necessarily use the 2nd and/or 3rd word depending on the results from the preceding guess. I did guess the Wordle on my first attempt many months ago: PIETY.
