Its a .450bushmaster. WITH the brake its like shooting a 20ga. Without it, oh shit. At least the brake vents 90 deg to the sides unlike my Barretts angling back a bit.
yeah that’s worse than my relatively perfect weather. I got lucky and had a doe come from what was upwind at the time and stop broadside at 25 yards. It’s been about 5-7 years since I’ve bow hunted.. I thought i stopped because it was harder. Still got plenty of daylight left too!
My plan for next year is to build a smokeless muzzle loader. It will be pushing a 300-325gr bullets @~2800+fps. A 450 Bushmaster throws a 250gr bullet @~2200-2300fps. It WILL have a large, tactical style brake on it!
How do you like that round? I built a .300 Blackout for shorter range hunting, but I'm not sure I'm satisfied with terminal ballistics numbers. Obviously the .450 has much better numbers there...
70? You shooting squirrels? go with 150-200, make it, um, interesting... ok maybe not. Sounds like a cool build.
Well lets put it this way, the 250gr .450bm round hits a deer in the boiler room, it drops right there dead. There is a severe drop off after 250yds though. For .300blk, Gorilla Ammo makes a 208gr subsonic round called Silverback that opens up into a HUGE flower petals.
I'm sure it does. Can't shake your roots. Like I said, I've lived in WI for the last 30 of my 44 years, and living 2 miles from the border I hate absolutely everything about my birth state with the exception of the Bears (not really helping my case right now) and the city for weekends out with the girl. It is what it is.
