I know you said pirreli but I’ve been using Dunlop road smart on my fz1 for prob the last 6-7 years. They grip well enough in dry or rain, last like iron and cheap af.
Whatever sport touring tires are offered by your favorite brand. They offer great traction in the wet/dry/cold, warm up fast, harder material in the center won't flat spot from commuting, soft/grippy material on the edges for fun, and you'll get 3-5 times the mileage than hypersport tires before you'll need to change them. They'll do ERRRRYTHANG you need on the street, better than hypersports, and do it way longer. I'll never put anything else on a streetbike again. I have the Michelin Pilot Roads (5 or 6)...can't remember which because they've been on there so long
I just bought a set of Road 5's for my Gix 1000 street bike. Haven't mounted yet. I'm also pretty sure that any of a hundred or so tires would good on my sportily ridden street bike, so there is that. The bike in the avatar, a K6 1000 runs PowerSlick2's, on warmers.
I'm on a K7 1000 streetbike...you're gonna love the Michelin Roads. They'll handle everything you can throw at them on the street, including the twisties.
Michelin Road 6 if you want sporty longevity that won't high side you under 60 degrees temp and still so sporty riding. If you start moving fast then GP2 and if you start getting gangster PC2.
No more than showing up with your Range Rover to pick the beached whale up from the lot, and having the RR beached as well. (Full disclosure, I had to drive a RR today, and of course the check engine light was on. )
This. Road 6 really are great tires. I'm more comfortable on the edge of those than I am Pirelli Rossos (III, I think) which they replaced.
I haven't tried the newish Rosso 4's but HATED the 2's, and the 3's were okay but not special. Apparently the Rosso 4 Corsa is a killer tire but my guess is like the Supercorsa, very fast wear rates unlike the Michelin Roads that offer decent grip but amazing life. I'm a fan of the Bridgestone S22's and now S23's - killer grip, neutral handling, and mid-pack for life/wear rates. Not to mention they are almost always MUCH cheaper to buy than the Michelins and Pirelli's.
Original Pilot Power are the last tire you’d ever want on an XB. Stick with a roundish front tire profile, like the Pirelli Angel (non-GT).
Do it. It's what I'm running on my Thruxton R and love them so far. Don't know how long they'll last but I have around 2500 miles on them and they are doing good. If I get 5000 miles on them I'll be happy.
A bunch of retired racers on this forum and alot of us who only ride the mountains have seen a clear lack of development by Pirelli for street stuff. Unless it's their DOT full race tires for Pirelli, practically every other major brand has several better options for grip and longevity.
Dammit, now you've done it. You've now invoked the know-it-all to come in here and say everyone is wrong and sling bullshit.
Everyone is wrong. <slings bullshit> Am I doing it right? Though I gotta say, I sold a lot of Diablo Stradas to the sport touring crowd, not a single complaint on grip and mileage.
