Opening a new business in Atlanta.

so I will have to travel there atleast once a week to once every 2 weeks minimum.

I want to keep driving as an option. is that a bad idea?

for those of you who travel a lot out of state for work. was driving ever an option? Or, did you always fly, take the train (dont think its an option here)

my wife thinks, i am doing this just to get a new car. :D

    What is your time worth?

    Depends.

I usually keep it within a 6 hour driving time window MAX. In other words, if it takes me more than 6 then I'll get a flight to the customer's location. Fortunately for me, in my territory (northern VA up to about southern NH) I can pretty much squeeze in everything I need via driving.

More than 4-5 hrs, take a plane.

I use a similar approach...if the amount of time needed to get to the airport, wiat around, fly, get my crap at the other end, get the rental car, etc etc is equal to or maybe an hour less than the drive time, I would rather drive. Gives me more flexibility. I have friends who are in sales / customer development who drive all the time, but they are out for two weeks at a time seeing people. For you, coming from Texas, I would start piling up those Delta miles.

What are you opening in the ATL? If it's based around the moo cows - get with Elvee (he's in town and running a farm truck as a part time gig as well as making artisan bacon when he's got time).

I am not that big a fan of flying. I mean i can do it. But doing it every week would make me go batshit crazy.

Houston to ATL......no brainer, fly. If you are flying once a week or every other week you'll get used to it. You'll rack up some nice mileage, and you'll save ALOT of time of your life wasted.

    You need one of these:

    Mooney 201 < $100k 4 seats, 190 mph cruise @10gph. No traffic, no cops.

  17. I travel a long way for work; but driving isn't really an option. :D

That is unless I get one of those new Volkswagons like I have seen in the commercials.

I haven't gotten a first class upgrade in over 15 years. Back then Delta was good, but things have changed a lot since I was a Gold Medallion level flyer.
