Im doing the stage 2 cam in the 114 and ohlins shocks and going to ride the crap out of her. I am surprised how well they brake and handle for such big bikes.
A bright spot for HD: "Harley-Davidson shares soar more than 25 percent after strong quarter" https://nypost.com/2020/10/27/harley-davidson-shares-jump-after-strong-third-quarter/
Pretty funny that shares rise because they don't quite suck as bad as before. This economy will soon turn down even further, making their products harder to justify to many Americans. (And I own one)
Good time to short their stocks I guess. Then again, when you're having a massive celebration for only being down 6%... Reducing production to reduce the massive backlog was probably a good idea.
Incidentally, got the motor finished on the 2019 CVO Road Glide. Ended up with 155 hp, 154 ft-lb torque. Bike is a hoot to ride now.
I don't know what came over me, but I made a 9 hour road trip to nowhere Tennessee Saturday to buy this 02 Road King. Got a decent deal so I figure worse case I'll sell it if I don't like it. Didn't even get to really ride it as the streets are covered in ice.
awesome. Just sold my 01 RK to get into a 21 Road Glide. Loved that bike, though. Stan, it’s amazing how much these M8s wake up with just a cam change. Do a mild overbore and it’s another 20hp30ft lbs. can’t wait till next year. Leaving the motor alone this season.
Shit. +20 hp you say?... That's like doubling its power, innit? <Dons anti-saddlebag attack protection>
Hah hah hah. But seriously, you can go from a stock rating of around 80hp/90tq to 130hp/150tq for less than 2 grand. It’s pretty incredible.
My Harley is slow, heavy, drags in the corners, and the brakes are meh, but damn I love riding it! 1979 FLH, never been restored but I have been fixing things all winter that were more a result of it sitting in a garage for 10 yrs and not from being ridden. Just finished upgrading brakes with Russell ss rotors and ss brake hoses. My go-fast days are behind me so I enjoy plodding around on this thing, and I can carry all my sh*t
Good luck! I bought an '04 RKC new and put maybe 500 miles on it before I offloaded it. Hated that thing.
Anyone looking at a HD Sportster, I'd recommend. Not an all out cruiser. I wouldn't recommend a C. Get the R for sure. I bought an 05 Sportster 1200r last August. I've put 2500 miles on it since. The controls are big and clunky. I'm surprised at how much you can get down on this bike. You want the big tire and solid wheel on the front. I upgraded the springs on front. I'm planning 08 gsxr tokico pots on front(bc I already have them), steel line, then better rear shocks. Fox or hagon. Likely hagon. Flat slide after that. I used to ride to NC on my gsxr or sv650, this will be even more comfy. I could ride much faster on this bike with smaller hand controls. That's the one downside to me about it. But hey, it is a cruiser. Or is it.
