Tank cover

    What are those aluminum looking things, that cover the tank to protect it from excessive heat?

    1; they keep the sun from heating the fuel
    2; they keep the engine heat from "soaking" the fuel
    cooler fuel = denser fuel = more power , the "good stuff" in the fuel evaporates first , heat promotes this evaporation
