i've looked all over...and can't seem to find a good racing school close to me...pocono or rausch creek are the closest...i've looked into learning curves, ed bargy, cornerspeed, etc...and the closest seems to be vir...i'm in lancaster and would prefer not to have to drive 3-4 hrs for a "track day"...

    thanks!

If you looking this year, VIR will probably be your best bet. The 2005 schedule for schools/track days have started showing yet.

Summit Point will probably be same travel time as VIR. Not much closer to you unfortunately. Some schools last year at Pocono.

From Lancaster, I believe Summit to be 3 or so hours closer. You can always come out to BeaveRun for a WERA weekend and do the licensing clinic the Friday preceeding the race.

3-4 hours? Thats all? I drove 10 hours for Ed's school in the middle of December to ride in the snow at Tally. 3-4 hours is nothing when it comes to getting to the track!

That's what I say. I drove overnight to get to Cornerspeed on the Grand Course, got the license and then drove home all within 24 hours. Then drove to Barber for a 2 day STT track day, and then drove back home.

If you are planning on racing, I would just get used to the idea of driving and working without sleep.

    4:55 - Carolina Motorsports Park
    4:40 - Jennings GP
    4:24 - Roebling Road Raceway
    4:13 - Nashville Superspeedway
    2:47 - Barber Motorsports Park
    2:20 - Talladega Gran Prix
    0:46 - Road Atlanta

A lot of Summit's schools are given on the Jefferson course, not the main circuit.

But that's still a better layout than the Shenandoah circuit.

I was very impressed with Cornerspeed. Next year I hope to do Pridmores STAR School and Ed Bargy, both of which are at Barber. Again, check out www.cornerspeed.net and I'm sure you will be impressed. ALL of the instructors gave input. Three of us actually had it good because we were really getting 1st class treatment. We were actually going out ahead of the school groups so we could do a slow sighting lap and let everyone else get up to speed so we had more room to work. Great feedback, and I even got a call from Aaron today telling me my free Motul stuff would be arriving soon. Can't beat that.

yeah my neighbors are usually pretty good about letting shit like this fly, but there are some that usually have a "special" escort home. I wish i could find a nice section of a business park or parking lot to play in where there are less people. just cant think of a good place. at least that way if i do get busted the guy might tell me to get the fuck out, not causine any harm to anyone but myself.

I think that Kevin Schwantz thing is probably the best. I dunno its just expensive maybe. I went to Ed's school but I haven't heard anything bad about any of the schools. It depends on what your plans are. Are you going to race? Do you just want to become a better street rider? Do you want to do it just to tell your friends that you went to a race school? You can go to a "race" school before you go to a race and they show you the flags and thats it. You can also go to a race school and spend $1500 learning the lines of a former 500GP champion. It all depends on what you want to get from it.

The Kevin schwantz school is $1100 for the 2 day class if you use your own bike.+400 to use theirs wit $1000 security deposit.
Its $2600 for the 3 day using their bikes, because its included, and complimentary lunch and dinner. All classes are held at road a.Suzuki motorcycles only. No other brand allowed.

    Check this web site
    http://www.trackdaycentral.com

Under Events you can pick between dates, race tracks, and/or groups. It fairly accurate, but go to the specific group site to be sure on dates.
