Our Deebot has 2 of those sweeper brush thingys, one on each side.
No pets.
running over D-shit? That WOULD suck.
If you know where it often gets stuck, (few places), you can fix it so it doesn't. For instance, ours gets stuck on one edge of out one of our couchs, so I put a throw pillow there where running it.
Who says it won't go under chairs and tables? Like dinning room chairs/tables? Mine does.
My wife does have a think head of Chinese hair, always shedding some, that does get caught in the brush roller that I clean every few weeks. Pretty easy actually.
I can understand not wanting one, I didn't at first either.
My buy buy one for upstairs too, instead of carrying it up once in a while.

Ever consider the little plastic disks to go under the legs of the furniture? They are good for about 1/4"

 

Not a bad idea at all. Hadn't thought of that, but that would work. Plus it'd keep the underside of the couch from building up too many dust bunnies, dog toys, etc.
