Can anyone give me some info on how the muriatic acid approach to cleaning a lightly seized cyclinders goes? I got a wasted piston, but the cylinder may be salvageable. Help me out, boys and girls.....
This is for a nicksil (sp?) coated cylinder only – Use a Q-tip and dip it into the acid, and dab it on the aluminum smeared on the inside of the cylinder. It will bubble up and eat it away. Just don’t get it on any of the cylinder that you want to keep. Wash it with lots of soap or use water and baking soda to neutralize the acid. eddie
I've done this with iron liners too with good results. Years ago I had a fascination with Weisco pistons and fairly tight piston clearances. I went thru quite a few pistons and a good bit of acid before I figured it out.
