Those trays specifically for that box or just stuff you found that happened to fit? I like it. Nut drivers are an interesting site in a motorcycle tool box, I don't think I've ever used one on a bike before.
The trays I picked up are universal, but fit really well. As for the nut drivers, I basically never use them. They work well for band clamps vs. using a flat blade screwdriver. I think it's these: https://www.harborfreight.com/6-compartment-drawer-organizer-99729.html
Thought your rig looked familiar, you were at the Ken Hill school last week at VIR. I was the bald guy on the 890 Duke. Looked like a great set-up you have—I especially liked the Marine sticker! I rented a Promaster for the school and really liked the van thing. I’m thinking of going down the race van rabbit hole, lol.
I rented a new Pacifica in LA for skydiving and did the van life thing for 3 nights. It wasn't much cheaper than a crappy hotel, but I did have my own space and managed to get kicked out of a Sam's parking lot at 11 PM in Gardena. I like the idea.
I’ve been thinking of getting a classic 70s-90s full size van based camper that can fit a bike inside the back. Not really big enough for racing, but it should work for track days and some non-track camping. Good ones are still super pricey, but occasionally you find a nice one under $10k.
This could be the perfect sleeper/race van... onboard power for AC running during the day, could power all the tire warmers in the paddock.
I wonder if you could get a solar roof that folds open even bigger to grab more sun energy… and it could double as a sun shade so you don’t need to bring a separate ex-up?
New to me, 2018 Metris race van. Gonna be fun outfitting it. Drove it from Denver to Montana and got 25mpg cruising at mostly 80.
You fab this yourself, I presume? I'm looking to build a similar set-up for my F-350, both front and rear. Have a front receiver hitch and ordered it with snow-plow prep for the heavier springs and wiring package. I've figured the outer bars would need to not be permanently 'fixed,' to allow for some adjustability to address potential binding issues. Any chance you can send me pictures with more details? I'd appreciate it, @Kevgentile .
Yes, sir. I did the fab and build myself. Pics are on another cp that my charger took a dump. I made plates that bolt into factory threaded hitch spots in the frame. I leave everything loose during install to allow for some mis-alignment and snug fit. I really don't need the actual hitch draw bar but it does allow for an easier assembly since I can just slip into position and then bolt the rest up. I really like this method but I have had small issues with the rear aftermarket airbags (airlift 1000). My LX is slowly turning into more of an offroad rig and I'm not sure if I want to retain the bags, but they were super beneficial in improving the ride quality with all the weight hanging off the back.
