I may have a schedule conflict for Nelson races on June 13 & 14. I like to still do the WSS and Senior races but I may not make it before lunch time. What are the rules and could I still race? I was going to register today or tomorrow
I wish it was that easy... But I'm trying to come up with a plan so I can be at Nelson by 8:30 am
Tell my boss that... I mean seriously... what's up with that right!!! Wonder if they can fly me to the track instead of airport LOL
Have someone else take your shit to the track, fly into akron or canton, take taxi to track, race, ride home with someone. Man V you make this so hard...
Cancel your 1 AM Sunday morning escort, and tell your 'handler' to make sure he blocks out Saturday night race weekends. You can make that money up by afternoon 'work'.
Why not? Isn't the need for practice an individual thing? These days there will be a lot of new racers who've got a lot of laps in at any given track. Do you keep track of who actually practices and who doesn't?
So you want to grid up with a novice racer that has rushed to get the track right before their race? You don't have a problem with racing with someone that has a bunch of stuff going through their mind hoping they didn't forget something in that rush to get to the track? You also want to rely on the fact that the bike that has not turned a wheel on the track yet is all ready to go and safely wired and prepped to race? Seems to me that if you are going to race then race. Showing up at the last minute to just turn some laps and try and "race" seems slightly dangerous.
What's rushing have to do with whether they've practiced or not? If somebody is rushing to get onto the track, what does it matter whether they're rushing to practice or to race? I pretty much take it for granted that I _have_ raced with somebody with their mind full of various things, that have rushed to get to the grid, whether they got to the track late, swapped wheels from DOTs to slicks, had crash damage they barely got repaired, or whatever. I'm not asking about specifically the situation Frenchy is in - Mongo's 'not liking to let people race without practice' was a broader statement, and I'm trying to understand his reasoning.
Seems like that is something that is pretty self explanatory when it comes to safe racing, but maybe that is just me.
