I guess they dropped the Paris part and they just call it "The Dakar" now so that's why I search didn't show up. Thought they still called it by the original name even after being run in South America for a couple years? It's on the NBC Sports Channel for those interested 220 on Direct TV
Two Americans I can see on the bike list, Tony Gera and Antonio Narino. Looks like Tony is still short on cash and won't make it. I really think Kurt could have won. RIP
Cyril Despres & Francisco “Chaleco” López have both switched to four wheels for this edition of Dakar. It will be a tall order for anybody to stop Marc Coma from taking his 5th Dakar victory in the bike category...
Will Robby Gordon's horrendous string of bad luck continue? I haven't looked through all the classes for other Americans since we don't have a chance in hell on the bikes.
A good bit of Robbiy's luck is actually self inflicted. He can prepare a truck for a Baja 1000 that he can run close to flat out the whole time. I am just not sure he knows how to back down to the 85-90% required to finish a Dakar. I know he has had teammate troubles, but running without a teammate is a big disadvantage as well. I hope he finds a way to finish and finish well this year. Only 2 guys on bikes for the U.S. and I never heard of either of them, so probably not much hope for a high finish there.
