I wonder if this doesn't stem necessarily from boredom, but from some sort of revolt. No excuse, but the guy has lived a very regimented life with people tugging in every direction, ala Britney Spears. Again, at 25, no excuse.
We all do dumb things. I try not to be too judgmental. I have an idea this isn't the first time he pulled someone over. While I agree that he'll probably get off with a veritable slap on the wrist I personally think that would be a big mistake. Impersonating an officer should carry a stiff penalty as it undermines public confidence that the individual pulling them over in an out-of-the-way place really is an officer. Delivering a mild penalty on this high profile case is just asking for trouble.
I don't think it's any secret that he is burned out. His riding this year has shown that he has lost some "tiger blood". I have friends that are close to him and everyone agrees. I think he needs to retire before he REALLY gets hurt

And rightly so. The only thing I hate more than regular idiots is idiots who have everything going for them and find ways to fuck it up.
James is my favorite Sx'er. I love the way he rides, and his speed is in incredible at times. but...he should pay for his stupid like everyone else.
