it was either late 90’s or early 2000’s in the heyday of AHRMA and I was helping my dad and Tim Joyce (as much as a kid could) and they raced Formula 750 in the rain and Tim was riding an Hourglass Xr750 like damn near priceless and hydroplaned and wadded it in the chicane if I remember correctly. Obviously slow by todays standards, but an XR750 at Daytona against the walls is such amazing sound.
She was 1923 him 1924, making them 48 and 47 during s1, and 57 & 56 at the end of s9 in 1980, respectively.
That sound is marvelous......Great times, my first racing at daytona was 2006 I think. I got lapped by Springer, so in a way I got to hear it up close more than once.....Springer vs Tim, then Springer and Felice, Springer vs Nixon (battle of the 9's). Magical times, and XR's are still marvelous. I believe John Landstron at Blue Moon Cycles here in ATL now has that bike.
