yeah i know. patterson. You didn't seem to be a fan. I was talking about the 2 quotes above your post. they were by different authors
I dunno.... this went right over my head. I guess I have an engineer brain when it comes to subtlety.
looks like VR46 Academy is winding down https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/1017887/1/how-valentino-rossi-s-vr46-academy-set-change
It's funny, I was thinking recently that this was probably going to happen soon. They have fulfilled their mission and done an amazing job. Now it's up to the Italian Federation to build on it and bring up young talent who will have a bunch of role models for the next decade. Rossi has done his job and then some.
KTM using F1 Aero engineers "With F1’s decreasing budget cap ($145m for 2021, $140m for 2022 and $135m for 2023-2025) impacting staff numbers, it appears some Red Bull Racing engineers have been moved into new projects at Red Bull Advanced Technologies – benefitting the likes of Red Bull KTM in MotoGP and Oracle in SailGP." https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/1018067/1/ktms-red-bull-f1-aero-ready-sepang-motogp-test
Rossi closing the academy to new riders makes sense. Huge investment on his part with (potentially) too low of a return. Reminds me a bit of KR’s training ranch in Spain. He spent a lot of cash and time building Spanish riders with almost no investment by their sponsors or Spanish companies. I remember him saying (paraphrased) that Repsol sent their riders there and they never even gave him so much as a drum of fuel.
good point on the lesser series have more W2W racing. And the comparison of Newey to Gigi is pretty spot on. this is pretty interesting. they became a owner and not just a sponsor. good that he pointed out they don't only do crypto, where Wolfe is like WTF on crypto sponsors
Dang, cancer got Laurent Fellon at 61. I guess that's why he wasn't so visible in the paddock this year. Too bad he didn't get to see his kid get better.
