Entry deadline is just under a week away, who's going, and what are people's predictions? Superbike, Supersport, Jr Cup, KotB, SH and BTR are all running. The dumb in me is really wanting to make one last go with this round... feels like it's the least HP favoring track within reach, and I've got looots of opportunity to learn the track prior. Fresh pavement, August, would an R5 rear be a good move, or stick with the R7 like I've got now? I didn't eat the tire even at Daytona, so I think the bike will tolerate a softer compound?
Mid Ohio is one of the absolute most fun tracks in the US and always a great time… go for it! Make memories that’ll last a lifetime! Good luck! It’s my favorite track by far and I’ve raced at most of them… on Superbikes, 1000s, 750s, and 600s and it’s fun on anything.
I'd love to go but more importantly, I hope you take the opportunity to run the round and make the memories Scotty mentioned. But again, I never thought I'd be the guy scheduling stuff around sports, yet here I am, killing it!
I'll be there. relatives close by so will spend a few days with them afterwards. looking forward to seeing the track again, it's been many moon since I was there..
I got educated on this today, my thinking was if I didn’t cook off an R7 at Daytona, a softer compound wouldn’t cook off at Mid O, but constant load heat != track abrasiveness. So yeah, likely going R7. The other note I got was some people saying R8s are providing more feedback / better feel than R7s? Sounds like there will be a decent Loudon presence, between people competing, those coming to help, and people making a long weekend out of it by staying for the Penguin track day that Monday. I’m going to check with my boss about the extended time off, and I think I’m going to try and make this happen.
Southern Maine, primary thing to lock down at the moment is where to stay for the week, finding places that are ok with my Jeep + Trailer makes things more 'fun'...
It may not have been normal but… not once did I ever pay to camp at Mid Ohio… from tents to trailers to RVs to the semi… I don’t think they even charge to camp in the paddock… there are locker room showers like no other too track so you can get to know your fellow racers even better I won’t get started on who is shy and who is chatty because many of them are still in the paddock
If I had a bigger trailer or a bigger tow vehicle I'd consider it, but I don't have the space with my current setup to also bring enough to camp reasonably. Sadly, I sold my RV before deciding to let my ego write checks my skills can't cash...
Just throwing it out there.... I could very easily be talked into hopping in the Tundra and towing a trailer out to Mid-O.
Yep. Got the news in the email. Seems like most of the tracks we run will need those compounds as the others just won’t last unless swapping a rear every 8 - 10 laps is someone’s fantasy.
I cannot ever see the name Mid-Ohio and not think of that chick holding up the sign expressing her uh dissatisfaction with a rain delay.
