Decided to go ahead and throw some boards up on kids bedroom windows and my office. Hoping it's all for nothing here in Wesley Chapel, but we will see some good gusts, so better safe than sorry. Just finished our new patio/pool enclosure a couple weeks ago. Hoping it holds up!
If you're in hurricane winds...de-screen the enclosure and re-screen later rather than losing it all like a huge kite.
Keeping an eye on the winds and will do that if it gets too bad. Have had some clients do that before, but wasn't sure of the truth to it.
Descreen locks in spending 3k to fix and no guarantee they wouldn't have survived. I'd rather take my chances. Anything above 3k is on the insurance company not me. Might as well go break all the windows in the house before the storm based on that logic
Many insurance policies don't cover screen enclosure damage related to hurricanes. If they do, it's typically in $5k increments. Had a client with damage from Ian. Her cage cost her $120k and the agent wrote a policy with $20k in coverage.
When did that start, never seen it not covered if the policy was written correctly. I did notice screen enclosure listed specifically these days as opposed to the blanket other structures
It's been around for a while, but is becoming much more common now. It is a specific exclusion when the damage is related to hurricanes. If the damage is caused by a "daily" loss then it would generally be covered.
That must be one helluva cage? I had a couple of slightly bent panels from. Ian, cost a couple hundred to fix.
The pool and patio area were over 3500sqft. She had the frame powder coated to match her house soffit and fascia because the standard bronze "wasn't a good enough match".
Well this isn't promising (assuming it's accurate this many days out). Move that sliding bar in the upper left until you get to Oct 20-21st......what do you see? https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/
Nothing like a guy talking about taking shelter in the middle of your house because the weather service issued high wind warnings while standing outside and not even wearing a helmet or eye protection in that same area.
Any of you heard of Reed Timmers? PHD, storm chaser, extreme meteorologist. He's "Team Dominator" in the youtube feed...
No eye protection for sure. Helmet coverage doesn’t look like it covers enough for my tastes, but it is his choice. Just afraid someone watching him will think it is a good idea to go outside and se for themselves.
