Lead chassis tech needed for MotoAmerica Superbike team

Looking for a fly in tech male or female to work with our Superbike team. Pay is scaled per day and will be decided by qualifications met.

Working on a superbike team is a dream come true for most of us , that being said it takes a commitment that's a heavy one. Every day is a work day when we have a test or race, professional racing doesn't care about holidays, birthdays, special occasions or even child birth. If you're in, you're in like the mafia, being part of our family isn't important, being a team player and taking responsibility in your personal appearance, the appearance of your work, cleanliness and dedication are. If you want to enjoy the spoils then you need to do the donkey work first just like everyone else on the team.
If you can take direction, enjoy the "team" ideology and want to win then maybe you should consider. Experience is a must, not Superbike but a technician who understands what attention to detail means .
This job is based out of Woodstock GA but it is a fly in position and will be treated as such for the 2023 season. The team pays for all travel and lodging with team gear and working credentials into the paddock.

Some of the responsibilities are:
Loading and unloading the transporter
Set up pit space
Set up pit road canopies and monitors
Cleaning brake calipers
Adjusting clutch settings
Adjusting chassis settings
Installing tire warmers
Removal of suspension parts
Installing engines
Standing over a parts washer
Keeping the team appearance up and looking professional
Being a team player
Communication is key for this role as much of it is habitual work and duties, if you get bored easy then don't apply, it's groundhog day. Taking orders from your crew chief without a litany of queries is expected as the candidate will understand the lingo. Bad attitudes will not be adjusted but rather discarded like an old tissue, however a good attitude gets the accolades and we all want those.
You don't have to be a scientist or specialist as we are asking and expecting you to do a job that's reasonable in very good working conditions. Team players are there to help and lean on but do their jobs as you do yours in unison to make a better effort and WIN. I made it farther. He lost me at "professional racing doesn't care about special occasions, even child birth". Not that I'm in this situation, but don't think a pregnant wife in the hospital cares about professional racing either, and the expression goes "happy wife, happy life", not "happy crew chief, happy life"!

 

As a young lad this would have been a dream job. Hell, as an older lad it's not terribly far off haha. GLW search

 

I coulda/woulda on everything else. Last time I flew, it was worth it (Isle of Man, 2016). The time before that has to be measured in decades.

 

Maybe they will let you drive to the races, if you have the time. I would suspect that their requirement is simply that you be at the appointed place at the appointed time to get your job done. If I was the team boss, I wouldn't give a rip how a team member got there, as long as they got the job done.

Driving isn't a problem. Driving and making a commitment to be somewhere on time, 14 times AND not be worn out means spending a day earlier for arrivals at the farther venues. I'm now an irate asshole on a mission. Get out of my way!

Hello all, after reading some of the comments I wanted to chime in and say the position is for a spot on The Westby Racing Team. The reason we installed a clause about childbirth is because if you are planning on having a child and the birth coincides with one of our events it likely wouldn't work out for us. We are saying nothing rude, crass or ignorant it's just factual, if the job is right for you then apply, if it's not then we understand. Hey Grasshopper do you really think we don't care about who we are hiring ? The fact is we do very much care about who we hire that's why I posted what I did. The job isn't a hobby or a small cheap effort, it's a proper Superbike effort with real employees that want to win without distraction. Maybe nobody here is interested in the position too bad really. For those of you who may be interested please apply we would be very happy to discuss your future with our team.

"We're paying in gold bars" They'd complain its to heavy and needs to be in gold coins.

Respect for knowing exactly what you need, being very clear and direct up front with those needs and moving forward with candidates who can give you what you expect to avoid wasting anyone's time.

Hell, I wish I could do it....even with a family, I'd do it if I could do some of the mechanical stuff you need.

To be honest, his initial post almost sounds like he is looking for someone to work offshore, because that is how it is out here.

The drilling rigs are on a day-rate and operate 24/7/365...literally. Christmas is just another day and nobody gives a shit if it is your birthday. The work never, ever stops. If it stops (which is called "downtime") then so does the day-rate. And it is taken so seriously that "downtime" is measured in 15 minute increments. Every minute the rig is shutdown costs the company about $700.

When it is time to go to work, you go to work. If you don't go to work, you better be in a coma or a casket.

So I get what Chuck is saying. It is a commitment. And that kind of commitment isn't for everyone, which is perfectly fine. But people should know ahead of time what they are getting in to and what is expected out of them.
