pretty sure the ktm 300 xcw is street legal, i rode a plated one while on IOM that i rented from David Knight, the hard enduro champ that lives there. one of the guys i went there with rode a plated gasgas 300 (not sure of exact model but is a 2stk)
My 300xcw came with lights and a title and I could have gotten it plated… if I’d have paid the tax on it.
A majority of the states no longer allow the 2-T's to be plated, as they haven't been DOT and EPA approved. Each brand has 50 state legal 4-T's in both 350 and 500cc. I bought a heavily discounted 2024 FE 350s in June and absolutely love it! The first non-play bike 4-T I've owned, (XR's; CRF-F's,) as I've always had a fleet of various YZ 2-T's. Definitely ways to get one plated in most states, but talk with dealers and others 'in the know' in your area to find out how difficult it is to do in your state.
I beat the shit out of my 950 off road and typically run 16-18psi in the front and rear. Haven't bent one yet. Rode 400 miles Friday and Saturday on the SM500 with some friends, still love this thing. Will probably wait a year and find a deal on a lightly used 1390SD to replace my 15 1290SD. I'm sure someone will put a full Akra and tune on one and then get scared and want to sell it.
I have a 2023 so I know you're not talking about me this time LOL We need to get a group ride together soon! Been too long... its amazing how many old WERA guys have KTMs these days.
any time. plus another "older WERA guy" already has dibs on the 1290 if I decide to sell it in the future. He's already got my old 450XC.
Waiting on a 25 300 XCW Factory. If anyone actually gets one delivered I'd love to know. Info on when they will land is non-existent.
None of their two strokes in the states come with turn signals and plate mount but I know when I bought my last two husky TX's they would give me the street title for them but I didn't bother. So technically they aren't street legal but many times you can get a tag for them if you want. Beta is the one that they always get a street tag so I know several guys that have bought them for the reason. It's not a guarantee (at least in MO or KS) that you get the street title when you pay taxes on them at the DMV.
no turn signals, forgot about that for here in states. IOM doesn't require them so that's why it was legal there..
KTM doesn't stamp their titles "Off Road Only" so thy can be plated (depending on your local DMV gestapo), making them street legal is on you and easy enough with several kits online.
Lack of turn signals shouldn't be a deal breaker for US as, at least when I got my MC license, you could use hand signals instead.
No, it's the hard enduro version... https://www.ktm.com/en-us/models/enduro/2-stroke/2025-ktm-300-xc-wfactoryedition.html
