    Not a mechanically switched system.

    This.

    Plenty of repairs due to poor machining and or hardness issues.

    Just heard that GM is recalling 400k+ prick-up trucks for a shitty situation with their 10-speed gearbox. Didn’t get a chance to review the whole story, but got the gist that these 400k+ was just the tip of the iceberg for these tranny problems.

    Interesting since I was recently told that Ford and GM are sharing the 10 speed trans in their 3/4 ton and up trucks but with an inhouse developed shift strategy. Ford does skip shifting based on learning and GM hits every gear.

    I won't call this reliable info, but the first description I have heard of the 10 speed. Ford has some known issues with it.

    I have a 2019 F250, 6speed transmission, and a 2023 RV with the 10speeed. (Thor magnitude 6.7 cab/chassis). The 6 speed is much, much more enjoyable to drive, the shifts are so much better and everything about it feels better. Anecdotal evidence but I do not care for the 10 speed. It gets good mileage though, won't deny that.

    The steering however, between 2019 and the "dynamic steering" I think they introduced in 2020 (could be wrong) is incredibly better. My 37' RV turns sharper than my '19 F250.

    Every Chevy I've ever had there was a switch in the brake system.

    There is something in the system that is breaking or intermittent in the series.

    X=Gear select Drive (Y)
    Y=Auto hold select on (Y)
    Z=brake light switch (on) Y
    Result - Auto hold active

    Same source said that the shift feel could be improved by a relearn. The skip shifting is a problem because once it develops a "memory" it has issues using the other gears. The mileage is why I was researching. Friend of mine has a '22 F250, loves it, and his stated mileage is pretty crazy.

    I'm so frustrated with paying for service. My truck developed a vibration at speed and I've been chasing it for years. Switched tires, alignments, tires balanced multie times, changed CV axles, u Joints etc... It changed but never was great and lately over 75 it was worse than ever. Took it to a new shop to have the tires rotated and asked them to check the balance too. They told me they were all several ounces off and it drives like when it was new now. Just drove it 3 hour road trip and it was smooth as glass after shitty shaking for three fucking years.

    Fuck if you could just pay someone to do the job correctly it would be a miracle.

    Man, I feel for you. That really sucks, they ran you around with all those incorrect repairs over 3 years and it was tire balance. Glad you got it now!

    My god-son just bought himself a Miata but needed tires for it. I just happen to have a set of brand new tires for that wheel size so I gave them to him and told him to go to a shop I use a lot and recommended. He did not, he went to Big-O tires near his house because it was closer. They charged him $320 to mount and balance 4x tires (highway robbery?). Then he told me the Miata was shaking on the highway.

    Short story long, I told dumbass to take it where I told him to take it originally and what do you know, turns out the wheels weren't balanced properly and Big-O damaged one of the sidewalls so he had to replace one of the tires. Free tire swap ended up costing him ~$500.

    I'm finding that the big chain shops tend to pooch screw often and if it's not by referral I'm hesitant to use a shop now a days.

    Also, hey you kids... get off ma' lawn!

    :D If only it was that simple. again, no mechanical switches. This is not your old chevy. Gyro to sense angle; then logic to apply hydraulic. And it`s very intermittent.

    You'd think with all this convoluted technology, light duty trucks (1 ton and below) should be getting like 40MPG while being able to to pull 40,000lbs.

    Years ago when I decided to get my 2016 Ram and get rid of my old 04, the thought of paying that much more $ just to get a truck that nets the same MPG pulling a toy hauler was...tough to swallow. I really, really wanted the 6 speed over the 4 speed auto, and the drastic increase in cab quietness was worth it. But neither of those wants were anything that's particularly special. One requiring more sound deadening material, the other just having 2 more gears.

    I'm renting a truck to visit my daughter in NC. I usually take the RV but then I'm kinda stuck and can't get around without borrowing a vehicle.
    My '02 Excursion has 10 yr old tires that leak and are dry rotted. I hate having to put tires on it since I've only driven it 800 miles since March 2023. I could have taken my '18 Ram 2500 company truck but I hate the idea of that thing breaking down 700 miles away. Especially since things are starting to go 'bad' on it....New trans over the summer and water pump a few weeks ago.

    Anyway, got a new F150, CC, XLT but after 3 miles down the road, realized it wasn't 4wd so i took it back. Thank gawd cause that thing felt like shit. Cheap plastic, uncomfortable seat, rattles...Felt like I was in a SxS with the 'cheapness' feel all around me. Itty bitty display screen. blah.

    So I went to another enterprise and got a '25 Chevy Silverado LT, 4wd, cc, 5k miles. And it feels, looks, drives, the ergos, the layout, the 18" touchscreen or whatever it's called, the dash layout/gauges....It's 100x better than the F150.

    That's all i got. Thanks for reading. lol.

    Your comparison of two rental vehicles is not valid. The configurations/cost are completely different. In addition, you have no idea what they experienced with past renters.

    What I preach now is each brand has its advantages/disadvantages. Each buyer has their own likes/needs/desires. And most issues can be avoided if people took care of their vehicles instead of flogging them to death. This is the typical situation when one is driving a vehicle that was paid for by their employer.
