Oh one more thing...when I pulled the top end apart, the valves were horrible. Put a catch can on it. any GDI motor needs a catch can.

No towing . Just a Starbucks grocery getter and pig slayer on the weekends when I can. It’ll sit in an airport parking lot a bit too.

my cousin blew his tranny but he drives an electric. I mean his was a Denali so that makes sense and another guy had his go out too but I’m not sure if it was a regular Silverado.

I’ll look into removing the afm and fixing the o ring

4K for an afm delete and tune? Wtf is wrong with trucks . I need to find that scooter thread that was mentioned

We're retaining captains because no one is hiring but right now getting maybe 13 or 14. I had 16 based in NYC but would lose 2 days for non commutable trips. I'm back in ATL as a captain like a year earlier than I thought i would. Super lucky

GM dod turn off module can be bought for under 50 bucks on amazon.
6l80E is a pile of garbage torque convertor will fail between 100-150,000 miles weather you tow or not.

ford eco boost well you see all it's issue's and the big ford godzilla gasser is having lifter issues as well

Ram 5.7 hemi has lifter issues if you idle a lot and are late on oil changes.
2013-18 6.7 cummins ram is good but the command a bunch $$$ 68 rfe trans is a little week but if maintained last. 19+ cummins swapped to hydrolic lifters and there garbage.

Really depands if your in a salt free area gen 3 ram 2002-2009 5.7 hemi and 45rfe trans i just sold mine with 250k minumim repairs.
i have a 2007 tahoe same as the 08 silverado with dod off over 230k one trans rebuild on the 4l60e.

So much of the new stuff with dod and forever shifting transmsions are just week and troublesome

I have a 2013 F150 3.5 EB with 100k. I’m on my 3rd set of exhaust manifolds due to the overheating/warping issue these motors have. I’ve found a company that makes upgraded versions so I’m gonna give them a go. I’ll probably throw in new turbos while I’m in there. It’s gonna be a big bite out of my ass—around $5k with me doing all the work.

But I love this truck and want to own it for a long time. And every time I get frustrated with it and start thinking I should just buy a new truck, I do the math on buying parts for my ole girl vs. the high purchase cost and the loan interest cost of a new one, it’s real easy math. Even if I have to throw $6k in parts a year at it, it’s still much cheaper than buying new.

Not to be argumentative but I bought my 2010 5.3 L with AFM in late 2014 (Georgia build-Mexico powerplant) used with 98k ( NOTE...previous owner towed a 20 something foot boat ) and i am at 203K with no transmission or torque converter failure.

The AFM system needs to be turned off early in its life or it gunks up the cylinders with oil. Problems ensue...

You can plug a small module into the OBD port and it will keep the truck from going into V4 mode.

I dont know if this is a permanent fix but if the lifters arent being starved for oil then they should last a lot longer, for sure.

If you aren`t worried about mileage, the `16 and up Hemis are a good truck A Ram with a cummins is a solid choice. Pre-`19 Cummins are solid lifter trucks, a little more dependable; though the later hydraulic liftyer trucks are very low failure rate. We have a hot shot service that has 5 `19 Cummins with all over 300K and only some emissions issues, which are hard to avoid with any brand. I thing we are going to exercise those demons soon...;)

Agree and I would reduce your oil change intervals to 5k or less. Even with synthetic. I ran marvels mystery oil in mine frequently.

Fuuuucccccccc good credit got me 8% on a loan. terrible

my truck also started clicking this morning with the ac on. I forgot what it’s called but it’s the driver side so it’s harder to fix

might be blower motor too. It clicks when the truck is off

I’m gonna get rid of my truck and borrow a range until I can find the right deal.

That's crazy. My credit union got me @3.9% on a 2022 Ram. They said it would've been lower for a '23 or '24

Wont your work just let you borrow one of their vehicles?

Drive home "Waterboy" style on a tug or luggage cart.

Get a 2nd gen Tundra. Fuel mileage sucks but otherwise a bulletproof truck

I landed at 1:30am the other night and 100% could have. Atl was a ghost town.

Had to fly over St. Louis and back down to Knxa because that big line a few days ago. 1.5 hour flight turned into 3.5
